Depending on their use on a production line, there can be different macro types of electric motors: synchronous motors and asynchronous motors. They can be further divided into standard electric motors, servo motors for motion control applications, high voltage and DC motors.

There are low-voltage motors covering a wide range from 0.09Kw to 5MW, and high-voltage motors with power up to 100MW. Finally, motors for motion control include spindle motors and built-in motors.
